Friends,
Does your automobile insurance really provide adequate coverage? We have been seeing many of our clients here in Cleveland and throughout Northeast Ohio who THOUGHT that they had top-notch insurance coverage, when in reality, they only had bare-bones, inadequate coverage.
Just because someone selling you insurance tells you that you have “Full Coverage” does not mean that you actually have coverage that will protect you in many common situations. A brief tidbit of advice from us is to make sure that you have AT LEAST the following coverage amounts:
Liability Coverage: $100,000 per person /$300,000 per incident
Medical Payments: $5,000/person
Uninsured Motorist (UM): $100,000 per person/ $300,000 per incident
Underinsured Motorist (UIM $100,000 per person/$300,000 per incident
Please understand that these are our BARE MINIMUM recommendations. One way to think about it is this. If someone without insurance were to cause a horrible accident, and would leave you unable to work for a prolonged period of time, or forever, is your “per person” UM/UIM coverage enough to compensate for this loss? Will you be able to provide for your family for years to come with only $100,000 in UM/UIM coverage?
The answer to that question is probably not. That is why it is so important to purchase adequate coverage. Ask your agent to provide you a quote for $1 million in UM/UIM coverage or an umbrella policy with this type of coverage, or even more. You will be surprised by how inexpensive the coverage truly is.
If you ever have questions about your insurance coverage, please feel free to give us a call! We will glad you explain your coverage to you, and will give you our recommendations and opinions about your policies.
