On Monday July 11, 2022, a car crash near Cleveland, Ohio left a man dead on Interstate 77 according to the Cleveland Police Department.
In that crash, Hasan Taief, 22, of Middleburg Heights died about 9:55 p.m. on the highway as he traveled on Interstate 77, near the Interstate 490 exit lane, according to police and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Reports indicate that Taief was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta when he attempted to pass a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier that was being driven by a 73-year-old man. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when Taief sideswiped the Cavalier on the right side during an attempt to pass. Taief was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported by police.
A 61-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman were occupants in the Jetta with Taief. The crash remains under investigation by the Cleveland Police.
